Construction Site PAT Testing
Keeping construction sites safe with specialist 110V and 240V PAT testing
PAT testing for construction sites covering 110V CTE equipment, power tools, and portable site appliances. CSCS-aware engineers, rapid turnaround, and full compliance documentation.
About Our Construction Site PAT Testing Service
Construction sites are among the most electrically hazardous working environments in the UK. Power tools and site equipment are subjected to constant physical abuse — dropped, dragged across rough surfaces, exposed to rain, mud, and cement dust. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) identifies electrical hazards as a leading cause of accidents on construction sites, and requires employers to maintain all electrical equipment in a safe condition.
MES PAT Testing Ltd provides specialist construction site PAT testing, with particular expertise in 110V CTE (centre-tap-to-earth) equipment. Our engineers understand the demands of a construction environment, hold relevant site safety awareness, and can work within the constraints of an active site. We provide rapid testing and same-day certificates to keep your projects moving.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about construction site pat testing
How often should power tools on construction sites be PAT tested?
The IET Code of Practice recommends PAT testing power tools on construction sites every 3 months. 110V CTE equipment should also be tested every 3 months due to the harsh conditions of site use.
What is 110V CTE equipment and why is it used on sites?
110V CTE (centre-tap-to-earth) equipment is powered at 110 volts from a transformer with the centre tap earthed, so the maximum voltage to earth is only 55V. This significantly reduces the risk of electrocution compared to 240V mains, which is why it's widely used on UK construction sites.
Can your engineers gain access to active construction sites?
Yes — our engineers are familiar with site access requirements and can complete site inductions. Many hold CSCS site awareness cards. Please discuss your specific site's requirements when booking.
What happens to a power tool that fails a PAT test on site?
Failed tools are immediately labelled with a clear FAIL sticker, removed from service, and documented in our test report. We notify your site safety officer and advise on repair or replacement options.
Can you test equipment across multiple sites on the same project?
Yes — we can coordinate PAT testing across multiple sites for a single contractor and provide consolidated reporting, which is useful for large construction projects with multiple welfare and site office locations.
